Jinx's blue-painted fingernail traced across the parchment and landed firmly on a strait between the mainland and a smattering of islands which had changed hands a dozen times in the past year. "There. The Piltover Passage"

Sevika brushed her hand away with a grunt. "We're not going there. It’s too heavily trafficked."

The map lay sprawled over the table in the middle of the captain's quarters, pinned in the centre by one of Sevika's daggers. Silco would've hated that, but he wasn't here now. Unfortunately, his little blue-haired problem was.

Jinx crossed her arms. "That's exactly why we should go. No one will expect us."

"This isn't a discussion," Sevika snapped. "We head to the Bay." She turned to her quartermaster, who stood frowning. "Go tell them to set course."

He nodded, and left. Sevika turned her gaze on Jinx once more. "You're out of your depth, kid. I only brought you along because Silco commanded it, and I won't have you ruining this trip because you want to impress daddy."

"He sent me," Jinx spat, "because I'm going to take over his empire one day. Because he knows I have the guts you don't."

Sevika barked a laugh at that. "You couldn't even hold your own in a fight without your precious bombs."

"Try me," Jinx said, and unsheathed her cutlass in a clearly unpracticed movement.

Sevika didn't bother unsheathing her own weapon. She advanced on Jinx, raising her metal arm, and knocked the sword out of the younger woman's hand with a single blow. Jinx hissed as Sevika shoved her up against the wall, slipped a second dagger from her hip, and angled the tip against the hollow of Jinx's throat. Jinx fought, trying to push her off, but Sevika was far too strong.

Sevika crooked a brow. "Like I said." Then her gaze, the traitorous bastard, slipped briefly down to Jinx's lips before quickly snapping back upwards, and suddenly she could feel the heat of the body she had pinned against the wall, the way Jinx continued to squirm against her grasp.

"Point made," Jinx finally snapped, and Sevika released her. Jinx retrieved her sword and shoved it back in its sheath. She cast a final, unreadable look at Sevika before she stormed out of the Captain's quarters, slamming the door behind her.

They arrived in the Bay of Zaun several days later and easily overwhelmed a lone cargo vessel that had strayed off course. Standing on its deck, the salted wind whipping at her coat, Sevika had its captain by the hair and her sword poised to slit his throat.

"Wait!" the man yelped. His voice quivered. "You want me alive."

Sevika yanked back his head so she could look him in the eye. "Why is that?"

"I have information," the captain gasped. "There's a shipment, something your boss would be very interested in."

Sevika cast the briefest glance at Jinx, who watched with her arms crossed. She growled, "If you cross me, I'll make you wish I'd killed you right here."

Jinx stalked forwards to stand in front of the captain, then dropped into a crouch, peering at him. "And where exactly is this shipment?"

"The Piltover Passage," the captain said, then hurriedly added, "You need me to show you exactly where to go, and how not to get caught."

Jinx straightened, her eyes gleaming triumphantly. "Told you so."

"Lucky guess," Sevika grunted, but as she met Jinx's gaze, she wondered whether that was really true.

Sevika spun in time to avoid the worst of the blow, but the sailor's sword glanced off her arm, leaving a bloody slice in its wake. She hissed and swung back, driving him towards the edge of the deck. The sailor stumbled, and, before he could regain his footing, Sevika drove her cutlass through his gut. His eyes bugged. She leveraged a boot against his stomach and yanked her sword free. He teetered back, and then he was gone. Sevika whirled back around into the battle before his body even hit the water and went for the nearest sailor, locked in combat with one of her crew.

Sevika hated to admit that Jinx might've been right, but the sailors were clearly unprepared for battle, too confident that no pirate would dare attack them here. Another went down, and another, until Sevika and her crew had seized control of the cargo ship. This was the vessel the captain had pointed out to them, and Sevika hoped for his sake this would be worth their while.

"Tie the rest of them up," Sevika snapped, stalking through the mess of blood to the centre of the deck. Her gaze caught on Jinx, standing atop the quarterdeck with an unbloodied sword in hand. Sevika was going to have a fucking word with Silco when they got back.

Sevika moved to the hatch that would lead down to the cargo hold and hefted it open with her metal arm. Sunlight illuminated a square of crates and boxes. With another glance at her crew - some were injured, but everyone was still standing - she clambered down into the darkness.

The cargo seemed unassuming from the outside, but as she looked closer, Sevika noticed padlocks on a few of the crates. She brought her metal hand down in a smattering of sparks, and a lock clattered to the floor.

Inside were vials upon vials, and they were glowing a sickly purple. Sevika gingerly lifted one. Thick liquid sloshed within.

Sevika made a considerable noise. She had no idea what they were, but they looked expensive. Maybe even expensive enough to be worth dealing with that blue-haired brat.

"I swear, that's all I know." The captain raised his hands in a placating gesture.

"How'd you know it was here?" Sevika asked. The sails billowed overhead, catching a harsh, cold wind that swept the surface of the ocean into frothy peaks. They were making a beeline back to Silco with their new loot, and an angry mass of storm clouds loomed on the horizon. They had no choice but to go through it. They'd been spotted leaving the cargo ship, and there was Navy on their tail.

"A sailor friend mentioned it at a bar a while back," the captain stammered. "He was drunk."

"And you claim it makes you stronger."

"That's what he said!" the captain gasped. “Some kind of new invention, I don’t know anything more, please, I have a family-”

Sevika grunted and drew her sword. This captain has outlived his usefulness and she was tired of his snivelling.

Before Sevika could strike, Jinx was in front of her, a flash of blue hair. She raced up to the captain, standing at the precipice of the deck, and pushed. He wailed for half a moment before he hit the waves.

"What the fuck?" Sevika snarled, turning to face Jinx.

"You were going to kill him."

Sevika glared at her. "We didn't need him anymore."

The faintest of hurt expressions crossed Jinx's face, there and then gone. She crossed her arms. "Now he'll die slower."

"If you're going to be soft, this is no place for you," Sevika snapped. "You're lucky Silco puts up with your shit, because if it was up to me, I sure as hell wouldn't." This woman was a liability, and she was going to get them all killed someday - or worse.

Sevika sat on the end of her bed, her shirt discarded and a roll of bandages between her teeth. The boat rocked violently. The storm was well upon them now, and rain lashed the tiny window in the captain’s quarters.

She finished scrubbing the cut on her arm with an alcohol-soaked cloth and removed the bandages from her mouth. Wrapping her wound one-handed, with the boat swaying like a drunken sailor, proved to be more difficult than she had anticipated. She snarled in frustration.

There was a knock at the door.

"Fuck off," Sevika snapped.

Instead, the door opened, and Jinx trailed inside.

"What do you want?" Sevika demanded, still wrestling with the bandages. Jinx approached, and she felt more than saw the other woman's gaze on her bare chest and stomach, the fabric of her bra. Sevika glowered at her.

"Let me help." Jinx snatched the bandages from her and quickly wrapped them around Sevika's arm, tearing the end with her teeth.

Sevika grunted. "Thanks."

"I know you think I'm weak," Jinx said. "You think I can’t do this."

Sevika didn’t bother to respond.

"But I'm not," Jinx continued, her voice heating. "I told you we should've gone to the Bay."

"But we didn't actually need you for any of that, did we?" Sevika asked sharply. "Why didn't you tell me from the beginning that there was something Silco was after in the Bay?"

"Because he doesn't know about it," Jinx growled. Sevika raised her brows. Jinx continued, "I figured it out on my own, that something was going down. Something big. And I had a feeling. I'm not just Silco's pet." She bit out the words.

Sevika scoffed. "Prove it."

Jinx grabbed her face and kissed her. Sevika sat frozen for a moment, and then her brain caught up and everything else be damned, she'd have been lying if she said she'd never fantasized about getting this woman beneath her. She yanked Jinx onto her lap and deepened the kiss, threading her fingers into those blue braids and pulling. Jinx gasped against her mouth.

Sevika's arm stung, but she ignored it, grabbing Jinx by the hips and flipping her around so she was on her back, Sevika leaning over her. Their kisses weren't gentle. They were fervent, bordering on violent. Sevika shoved her hands under Jinx's shirt and pushed it up, pulling away from her mouth only long enough to yank it all the way off.

"I hate you," Jinx growled, but her back arched when Sevika traced her mouth down Jinx's throat and across her chest to the swell of her breast. Sevika made quick work of her bra, then ghosted her teeth over Jinx's exposed nipple. Jinx hissed.

"Good," Sevika said, her metal hand bracketing Jinx's head while her other slipped further down, hooking the hem of Jinx's pants. "Because I feel the same."

Sevika leaned over Jinx, trapping her against the bed. "Do you truly believe Silco will hand you the reins to his empire one day?" she asked, low and rough. "You're weak."

Jinx smirked. "Prove it."

Sevika grabbed her by the throat - not hard enough to cut off her air, but hopefully hard enough to shut her up - and shoved Jinx's pants down her thighs. Then she plunged two fingers into the woman's cunt.

Jinx gasped again, bucking against Sevika's weight as she slipped her fingers deeper, fucking her with all the anger she couldn't take out on Silco's little protege. At the same time she leaned closer, her lips brushing Jinx's but not kissing her. Jinx tried to bridge the gap, but Sevika's metal hand kept her pinned.

Jinx whined, and the sound went straight to Sevika's groin. When her hand started to cramp she slowed her movements, tracing her thumb over Jinx's clit. Jinx writhed, eyes closed, her hips thrusting up to meet the motions of Sevika's hand.

“Fucking pathetic,” Sevika grunted, her lips ghosting over Jinx’s ear. “You just needed someone to put you in your place.” Jinx moaned, and Sevika eased her grip, only slightly. “Admit it.”

“Sevika, please,” Jinx whimpered, in a voice that Sevika would be fantasizing about for weeks. “I need it, I need you. Please.”

Sevika withdrew her hand from between Jinx’s legs, earning another desperate whimper. Then she rolled to the side, onto her back, and began unlacing her own pants. Jinx sat up, breathing hard, her eyes dark with desire.

Sevika tossed her pants to the side and yanked Jinx between her legs. “Prove it.”
